To my Dearest Grandmother....

Cultivating habits like writing a dairy is not a cake walk anymore. Atleast not in this generation where we are all drowning in the ocean of technology. Infact Ayamachi once asked me “ Mole! Ee Phone il entha ullathu? Ellavarum ithu epozhum enthina pidichu kondu nadakunnathu? . Those words hit deep and I realised we are giving more importance to this nonliving man made thing than anything else. Are we carrying the Bible the same way everywhere we go?

While we jot down our “To Do Lists” Ayammachi has it memorised. There used to be a time when landphones existed  in every house and when she memorised the telephone numbers of her near and dear ones. How many phone numbers can we tell by heart?

She also has a “Kanaku Pusthakam” where she writes her daily expenses and calculations. She also writes in that how much she will give to the poor and needy every month. Only a heart as dear as her’s can give so unselfishingly.

I still remember when I  received my first salary Ayammachi adviced me to give the tithe (1/10th) of it to the church every month. In fact that was the only advice she told me. Nothing about saving up or Investing.  This reminds me of the Bible verse in 1 Timothy 6: 7 “ We brought nothing with us when we came into the world and we can’t take anything when we leave it.”

She has a routine and it never changes. A good amount of Sleep is a must for her.  Unpolluted air, fresh water and sounds of birds chirping are a few of the many things Ayroor has always offered her.  It is heart warming to see her sitting in the verandha with a  newspaper and soaking up sunshine( She get’s all the Vitamin D she needs while we all pop the pills).

We are all Immensely blessed to have a grandmother like you. All your children and grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are grateful for the keeping us in your daily prayers .Ayammachi does not need a facebook reminder for remembering birthdays and anniversaries. Your wisdom has shaped our lives and we pray for a healthy and long life in the coming years. We love you ayammachi.

Happiest Birthday to you. You have almost seen a century of life.

Lost in Two Dimensions

We gaze at screens, day and night, A world so flat, yet shining bright. Pixels dance, but can’t replace, The warmth of touch, a loved one’s face. No scent of earth, no ocean's breeze, No velvet grass beneath our knees. No taste of rain, no fire’s glow, Just silent echoes, a hollow show. Are we alive, or just a view? A life so crisp, yet missing hue. Step outside, let senses soar, Feel, breathe, taste—be whole once more. # unLearn
