"Beyond the Wedding Bells: Embracing the True Journey of Marriage"

In today’s world, the meaning of marriage often gets lost amid the grandeur of weddings. Many people focus on creating perfect Instagram moments, like elaborate pre-wedding photoshoots or extravagant reception parties, rather than understanding what marriage truly involves. While it’s important to have beautiful memories, we must remember that marriage is about much more than just a series of perfect pictures.

Take for example Sarah and James, a couple who spent months planning their dream wedding. They had the picturesque venue, the fancy outfits, and the perfect dance at the reception. But after the wedding day was over, they found themselves struggling to adjust to married life. The excitement of the wedding faded, and they were faced with the reality of building a life together. The deep conversations, the small sacrifices, and the shared goals became more important than the celebration they had worked so hard to create. Through these everyday acts of love and patience, their relationship grew stronger.

Marriage is about those quiet moments of connection. It’s like when John and Lisa have a long day at work, but still find time to sit down and talk over dinner. Or when Mark supports Emily in pursuing her dream job, even though it means they’ll have to make some sacrifices. It’s not about grand gestures or perfection, but about the daily commitment to be there for one another, to listen, and to grow together.

Unfortunately, the emphasis on the wedding day often creates a superficial view of marriage. Jessica and Tom had a beautiful wedding, but a year later, they found themselves at odds, unable to communicate through their differences. They realized that their focus had been on the wedding day, and not on building the skills needed for a strong marriage. They had to work hard to understand each other, set common goals, and rebuild their connection.

The truth is, a wedding is just one day, but marriage is a lifelong journey. It’s in the small moments—like when Rachel surprises her husband with his favorite meal after a stressful day, or when David and Maria support each other’s dreams, even when life gets hard—that the beauty of marriage shines through. These quiet, everyday acts of love, respect, and patience are what truly define a successful marriage.

So, let’s shift our focus back to the core of marriage: the commitment to stand by each other, through both the good times and the challenging moments. Let’s celebrate the resilience, the love, and the partnership that build a strong, lasting marriage, not just the celebration of one perfect day. Because, in the end, marriage is about the lifetime of moments that follow the wedding day

Name: Bittu Jacob Owner of Baked for you by Bittu   1. Why did you pursue baking as career?   During my school days I enjoyed baking with my ‘Amma’. After getting married I used to bake occasionally at home and when we had guests at home.   On my son’s 5 th   birthday, I decided to make a fire truck shaped fondant cake. It was my very first attempt baking a fondant cake from scratch. When my family saw the cake they were quite impressed. To be honest the cake tasted lovely but it was not like those very neat fondant cakes . My family encouraged me to level up my skill by attending cake décor classes.       So I attended a class and learned the basics of cake decoration. Even at that point of time I never thought of taking this up professionally. That same year (2016) in the month of December my Appa asked me to bake 10 cakes to gift his friends. I was nervous about this but my Appa had full confidence in me. He convinced...

The dot, turban and the hijab.

It was another day at middle school. I still had not made any friends. Well , the truth is I really tried but no one  wanted to be my friend. It was lunch time and I was looking for a place to sit in the cafeteria. This is one thing I dread the most. Everyone had a group of friends of their own. The popular group sat in the corner. They were the cheerleaders, basketball players, kids with good looks (most of them wore makeup so cannot really tell if they were really good looking) and then there were the rich kids who only wore only branded clothes , shoes.  I certainly did not belong there because I didn’t have the skinny body type which those cheerleaders had. Forget sports. I cannot even do ten push-ups straight. I wore clothes which I got on sale from JCpenny and not Ar...
