The Grey Sorcery of Modern Technology

As soon as I wake up, I turn off the alarm on my phone and start my very first session of mindless scrolling. The urge to refresh Instagram or open WhatsApp has become a reflexive behavior . I wonder when did social media become mandatory. It slowly crept into our daily existence using our fears and is now conditioning what we see and read thereby affecting our future perpetuity.                             This untamed tangle of apps, notifications, emails, and photos is etching away our natural ability to focus completely on one task at a time. With ten tabs open at a time we are multitasking and putting our brains into hyperdrive. It is manipulating our moods and sleep-wake cycles. The uneasiness and feeling of alienation when...

April Rain

Soothing whispers of a gentle breeze, Swept amid my curly hair. As I sat  on the porch with a cup of chai, Bloated ashen clouds dashed into each other, They waited to explode and turned darker by the second. Trees swaying a welcome dance, While the earth blew a mighty wind to greet the approaching rain, I look up as I felt a spray of tiny beads cascading down my arm. And there those first droplets kiss the planet. It left an earthy aroma all around. Then with a Rumble and a roar came those majestic drops, Shattering the ground with force, It created a beautiful serenade on the roof And steady drumming on the windows. It enriched the thirsty soil, Making every dusty leaf glossy, Cheerful, bright, and bold is the Rain It calms your nerves and makes you smile Whether you are dancing in the rain  or watching it from a confined space Rain will help those anxieties slip away And water your soul with love. Love Letter to Alginate Impression Material.

Note: If you are NOT a dentist it might be hard for you to understand what is Alginate.  It is a colorful powder when mixed with water turns itself into a paste-like consistency. Within 3- 4 min it can turn itself into hard rock like consistency.  So we dentists need to make sure that we take the impression of the patient's teeth before that. The photos in this post will help you understand better. In this post, I'm writing a love letter to Alginate. Dear Normal Setting Alginate,               Just wanted to share the story which made me fall head over heels for you. I was taking a full-mouth impression for an old friend. Right after mixing the alginate impression, I walked towards her requesting this friend to open her mouth. That very moment she started talking in detail about why she believes that she is hereditarily more prone to caries. While she kept talking, I could feel sweat rolling down my forehea...

Charukasera – An Ode to the Charming Comfort Seat

S ince time immemorial Charukasera has adorned every Kerala house.  The picturesque view of a traditional Kerala house is incomplete without this easy chair in the verandah . The  Charukasera instantly renders grace and grandeur to the house.             The mere sight of this minimalistic chair knocks up the nostalgia of my childhood at my mother's house in Chalissery. I still remember my grandmother whom we fondly called "Amma" sitting on this chair reading the bible. She observed us cousins playing and fighting with each other around her Ch arukasera which sat in the corner of the long-running verandah which we referred to as "Ummaram " .                      Every house has a Charukasera which has seen it all. The departing tears and the greeting smiles. The prayers we say before leaving the house and the sur...

4 Takeaways from 2021

This year I slowly learned.. 1. To let go of ALL the FEARS which was stopping me from being my BEST SELF. The biggest obstacle in front of me was "ME"(slow clap). Yes, I was standing in my own way.  I doubted myself. I didn't realize my true potential because I couldn't see it.  I was in a safe place. I didn't want any changes. It was cozy to be in this safe haven but deep down I knew very well that great things won't come from comfort zones.  I wasn't ready to take risks yet every night when I went to bed I felt like something was missing. I felt my days were unproductive. I felt my creative side would just rot.  2.I learned that more than hard work or motivation it is Consistency and discipline which will take you places. Of course Discipline> Consistency. 3.I learned that acknowledging and embracing the blessings that I have will lead to abundance instead of worrying and whining about what I don't have. 4.Learned to give Thanks to Christ my sav...
